As a college freshman, in the Spring of 1967, I was moved by Ivan Dixon's starring performance in the teleplay, "The Final War of Olly Winter." I entered the UC Davis Drama Department the very next day and finally found where I belonged.

The great artist, Joe Blaustein, forced me out of the comfort zone of his figure-drawing workshop, to paint what truly speaks to me; whether its 9/11 first responders, Rwandan refugees or the D.C. Holocaust Memorial Museum's, Room of Shoes.
